IceTech Débuts Maintenance Solutions for the Plastics Industry at NPE 2015

March, 12, 2015 - IceTech (Booth S20167), the worldwide leading manufacturer of dry ice blasting and dry ice production equipment, has furthered advancements in an innovative solution to major maintenance problems in the plastics industry with the launch of their Evolution Line. Comprised of the Elite 20 and the Xtreme 40, the Evolution Line utilizing the dry ice blasting process, a method that provides maintenance professionals with a way to clean molds and equipment with a nonabrasive media that is eco-friendly and void of secondary waste.

According to IceTech, its dry ice blasting equipment allows end users to clean molds in place, preventing potential damage caused by equipment’s removal and reinstallation. Molders can clean critical parts of their equipment while they are still at operating temperature and without water or chemicals, Icetech claims.

Dry ice blasting machines are an effective tool for eliminating blemishes and unwanted flash that occurs in the parting line of mold halves. Dry ice blasters are a common deflashing tool in plastic parts as well as other sectors of manufacturing.

According to the company, vent clogging, a common problem in the plastics industry, is easily solved with the utilization of dry ice blasting because it allows equipment to be cleaned on a more regular basis. The regular cleaning, which keeps vents opened, helps protect metal components of the mold from damage due to these gases.

Dry ice blasting provides a cleaning solution for extruder screws because it allows equipment to be cleaned quickly and without damage, says Icetech. Most screws can be cleaned directly out of the barrel, which reduces downtime and subsequent costs as parts can be cleaned without cooling.
Utilizing dry ice pellets made from recycled Carbon Dioxide, dry ice blasting offers a superior cleaning experience compared to other methods. The dry ice pellets sublimate, or turn back into Carbon Dioxide gas, when they come into contact with equipment, providing a multitude of environmental benefits. The production of dry ice gives the recycled CO₂ a “second life” before it is released into the atmosphere, thereby delaying its effects on the environment. Dry ice blasting also supplies an environmentally responsible alternative to other cleaning methods that utilize hazardous chemicals and solvents.

“The Evolution Line provides the perfect universal dry ice basting experience. Its functionality and versatility makes it suitable for both lighter applications and extremely heavy duty cleaning, says Dennis Hjort, President of IceTech America, Inc. “The new design was created based on customer needs, and meets the highest demand of the industry.”

IceTech has provided the plastics industry with dry ice cleaning solutions for more than a decade, and continues to pioneer the industry with superior cryogenic maintenance technology through a highly versatile line of dry ice blasting, dry ice production equipment, and automated solutions. For the last 16 years of activity IceTech has created a network of more than 30 distributors and direct sales forces, and supplies equipment worldwide.
