Exhibits tailored to Brazilian market / Packaging sector in focus
Lossburg. From 4 to 9 May 2009, Arburg will be represented with two Allrounders at the Brasilplast in Sao Paulo. At the exhibition injection moulding experts will have the opportunity to experience the high performance of the Arburg machines at first hand. An electric Allrounder 420 A with a high-speed, thin-wall application from the packaging sector and a hydraulic Allrounder 570 C Golden Edition representing the cost-efficient and globally-successful Golden Edition machine series will be presented.
“We would like to once again participate in the sustained boom of the Brazilian plastics market in 2009, or at the latest in 2010. With our products, we regard ourselves to be well positioned to do so. The packaging market is an important focus of our sales strategy as this field is currently experiencing disproportionate growth. “Although the Brazilian market tends to be dominated by simple machines and applications, we have identified potential for high-performance machines up to and including complex production cells in the long term. In a difficult market environment, which has been characterised by a significant reluctance to invest, I view the Brasilplast as a barometer for the second half of the year, in which we expect the market to recover,” says Kai Wender, Manager of Arburg’s Brazilian subsidiary.
Cost efficient and globally successful: the Allrounder Golden Edition
“The Arburg Allrounder Golden Edition machines have carved out the largest market share in Brazil; they are synonymous for economical injection moulding among our customers,” says Kai Wender regarding the local situation.
Consequently, the presence of this successful machine series is a must at the Brasilplast: An Allrounder 570 Golden Edition with a clamping force of 2,000 kN and a size 800 injection unit will be presented. The maximum shot weight of this machine is 434 grams of PS. A stacking box weighing 259 grams will be produced from PP on the exhibition machine, which is equipped with a single-cavity mould. The cycle time will be 35 seconds.
The successful Golden Edition machine series now comprises not only horizontal machines with clamping forces from 400 to 4,600 kN, but also vertical rotary table machines with a table diameter of 1,200 millimetres and clamping forces of 800 and 1,000 kN.
All the Golden Edition Allrounder feature fixed clamping force/injection unit combinations and technologically-superior standard equipment. This includes, for example, highly wear-resistant plasticising cylinders for a long service life, fast-switching valve technology for high control precision and consequently high injection moulding quality. Furthermore, dual-pump technology permits simultaneous machine movements and the associated short cycle times. The Selogica ‘direct’ control system with touchscreen monitor offers a high level of operating convenience.

The Golden Edition machines, like all Allrounder, are produced to the highest quality standards, exclusively at the Lossburg parent factory in Germany. Electric Allrounder A: fast, precise, and energy-efficient
To meet the demands of the fast-growing packaging sector, Arburg will demonstrate the high performance of its electric Allrounder A at the Brasilplast by exhibiting a high-speed thin-wall application: A 500-gram rectangular container will be produced in a cycle time of 3.7 seconds on an electric Allrounder 420 A with a clamping force of 1,000 kN and a size 400 injection unit. The part weight will be 15.7 grams.
The main axes of the Allrounder A, with servo-electric drive as standard, enable simultaneous machine movements and the resulting short cycle times. Depending on requirements, the auxiliary axes can be driven either electrically or hydraulically via a small-accumulator hydraulic system.
The high level of efficiency of the servo-electric drives and the toggle-type clamping unit ensure an energy-efficient operating procedure. Accordingly, the Alldrive machines bear the Arburg “e²” energy efficiency label.
High reproducibility and part quality are ensured thanks to the excellent positioning accuracy of the electric movement axes. The accuracy of the axis movements means that synchronous entry into the mould can be performed quickly and precisely, optimising cycle times.
Perfect for a warm and humid climate: the Thermolift
In order to achieve optimum injection moulding results, water absorption and adsorption in the plastic granulate should be excluded. However, these are a permanent influencing factor, particularly in tropical climate zones. Consequently, at the Brasilplast, Arburg will present the Thermolift, a combined drying and conveying unit that optimally prepares the plastic granulate for production. Programming and operation of the Thermolift can be performed conveniently by means of the proven Selogica machine control system via an interface. Its small footprint enables decentralised and separate operation of this peripheral device directly at the machine.

“With the high-speed packaging application running on the electric Allrounder A, the cost-efficient Allrounder Golden Edition and the Thermolift combination device, we have tailored the exhibits precisely to the requirements of the Brazilian injection moulding industry,” says Kai Wender with regard to the trade fair programme.
