BASF puts innovation front and center at NPE 2015

40 products and displays showcase sustainable and recyclable solutions for customers

 

March 16, 2015 -- The world’s leading chemistry company, BASF, will exhibit 150 years of innovation at this year’s NPE2015: The International Plastics Showcase, March 23 - 27, 2015, with more than 40 products and interactive displays under the tagline “Innovate with Us.”

BASF’s booth (South Hall at #S1602) will showcase the latest innovations that enable customers in industries like automotive, consumer and construction to meet the current and future needs of society.

“Our BASF team can best be described as solution providers,” said Juan Carlos Ordonez, Senior Vice President Performance Materials, BASF North America. “We’re looking forward to connecting with current and potential customers at NPE and helping them uncover solutions that best meet their industrial design needs.”

Some highlights of BASF at NPE include:

  • An all-plastic shopping cart that BASF helped design and develop offering a 3-5 year longer lifecycle and 100 percent recyclability than traditional steel models;
  • A sustainable coffee station featuring 100 percent compostable coffee pods and food service materials to significantly reduce landfill waste;
  • Effect pigments that minimize dust while giving a unique pearlescent look for packaging applications when processing over powder effect pigments;
  • A seatback frame that combines the advantages of BASF injection-molded plastics and continuous fiber reinforcement to reduce vehicle weight and help automakers meet fuel economy standards;
  • adidas footwear with BASF Infinergy™ material embedded within the shoe’s sole to reenergize the wearer;
  • An agricultural mulch film for growing strawberries and other crops that is biodegradable, eliminating contamination and waste at the farm;
  • First-of-its-kind solar panel mounts proven to reduce manufacturing costs, production time and installation costs;
  • Heat management and light stabilizing pigments in turf and automotive applications; and,
  • Cost-effective, high-performance light stabilizers for the production of agricultural plastics.

Aside from the product displays, BASF will offer customized one-on-one “Innovation Sessions” for current and potential customers. These sessions will help develop new product ideas with the guidance of industrial designers and BASF experts.
