Akro-Plastic starts polyamide compounding plant in Sao Paulo

September, 30 - 2015 - The german company Akro-Plastic (www.akro-plastic.com), part of the Feddersen Group, officially started the operations of its production plant in Itupeva, São Paulo, Brazil, last September, 16hth. With investments of 2 million euros, the new plant will have a production capacity of 5,000 tons of polyamide compounds per year in a first phase; the company is ready to expand later this capacity to 20,000 tons per year.

The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Board of Directors of KD Feddersen Foundation , dr. Matthias von Rönn, the CEO of KD Feddersen Holding, Volker Schell, Fernando Nocolosi, general manager of Akro-Plastic in Brazil, and the Mayor of Itupeva, Ricardo Bocalon.

The new plant strengthens the global commitment of Akro-Plastic with their customers and, through ICX® technology (identical compounding & extrusion), ensures that processes and production & control means are exactly the same in the company´s factories in Germany , China and Brazil. The machine used for the production of compounds is manufactured by a subsidiary of Feddersen group, Feddem.

The portfolio of Akro-Plastic comprises a vast expertise in polyamide compounds which are produced with the global standards needed to meet strict tolerances, the company says. Among the product lines, there are solutions in Akromid® polyamides (PA 6.6) (PA6) (PA66 / 6) with reinforcements ranging from of 50% to 70% glass fiber. These grades are used for metal replacement. In applications where requirements are even higher, the company offers Akroloy PA® grades (semi-aromatic polyamide) and Akromid T® (PPA), specialties that provide superior stiffness and application temperatures combined with high performance, according to Akro-Plastic.

Other materials provided by Akro-Plastic include polyamide compounds reinforced with carbon fiber (Akromid® ICF_ - strong and light - and renewable sourced-materials such as Akromid® D (6:10 PA). In adition to that, polyamide compounds with reduced density Akromid® LITE & Xtralite are also offered.
