Cromex shows its range of services and products for plastics processing at the K 2013


The company takes to Germany its entire line of masterbatches: blacks & whites, specialties aimed at engineering plastics, and a sustainable line

October 16, 2013 - With the motto "We make and deliver"; Cromex, leader in the Brazilian market in the production of color masterbatches and plastic additives, and distribution of thermoplastic resins, takes part in another edition of K, the world's premier trade fair for plastics and rubber, being held from 16 - 23 October in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The company shows visitors the lines of black & white and color masterbatches, specialties, solutions for engineering plastics, BOPP, and a sustainable line. These product lines cover applications requiring from the most basic to the most complex technical criteria.

We make and deliver - Cromex has invested in technology, R & D, and people qualification to expand and improve worldwide its range of solutions - products and services - for the processing industry. "The company wants to be among the five major world producers of masterbatches," says Marcos Pinhel, commercial director at Cromex. Thus, the company enhanced its scope of work, which now comprises both the production of masterbatches and the distribution of thermoplastics.

In order to operate the distribution, Cromex currently has three distribution centers (DCs) in Pinhais (PR), Caxias do Sul (RS) and São Paulo (SP). From these DCs, built under the strictest security conditions, the company distributes nationwide a wide range of thermoplastic resins (Polypropylene, Polyethylene, Polystyrenes, Specialties, Engineering Plastics, Wire and Cable Products and Titanium Dioxide), with the best cost-benefit ratio in the market.

Cromex owns two plants where color masterbatches and additives for the processing industry are manufactured. The unit in São Paulo has an area of 7,800 m2 and Simões Filho, Bahia, an area of 64.000 m2, with 14.000 m2 of constructed area. Both factories possess modern laboratories for quality control.

Cromex is certified by ISO 9001, 14001, and OHSAS 18001. Its products meet the strictest international standards such as REACH and FDA, among others. In 2012, the company made large investments in machinery and modern equipment. This year, it invested in Research & Development, and, as a result, Cromex has a modern and well-equipped laboratory for masterbatches in South America, located in São Paulo's facility.

In addition, the company has invested in the training of its workforce, both in production and customer service, to ensure the quality standards of products and services the company offers to the market. Today, Cromex has a workforce of 605 employees.

Strong performance in foreign markets - With such structure, Cromex holds the leadership in the Brazilian market, along with a strong presence abroad. Owner of an export culture, the company sells its products to over 60 countries. Currently, 20% of the business is geared to external markets, with a trend to increase this number.

Cromex Solutions – Cromex’s products are developed for the various segments: Food, Toys, Cosmetics, Home and Personal Care, Construction, Automotive, Agribusiness, among others.

Among these applications are engineering plastics, a segment the company supplies high performance products; and specialties, targeting the sectors of construction, electronics and automotive. All these lines will be in evidence at the K exhibition

Another highlight at the show will be Cromex's BOPP line (white, additives and fillers), products of high-performance technique, developed according to the needs of the industry and providing the best performance for the machinery.

Innovation and sustainability - Always aware of the global trends and concerns to promote sustainable practices, Cromex also has excelled in the development of colors and additives aimed at biopolymers of renewables sources (Green PE) and at biodegradables, as well as the distribution of PLA polymer, serving markets that launch their products with an appeal of sustainability. The company also produces masterbatches free of heavy metals.

Cromex's masterbatches add colors and special effects to products. The company also offers a wide range of product additives which add properties such as cycle reduction, thickness, and increased shelf life to plastics. The portfolio is vast and includes nucleating agents, antioxidants, UV stabilizers, lubricants, flow aids, etc., compatible with the sustainability appeal of its biodegradable product range or renewable sources.
