Stork and Sepro Sign Robot Agreement

July 21, 2015: Sepro Group (La Roche sur Yon, France) and Stork IMM B.V. (Hengelo, the Netherlands) have agreed that Sepro will make top-entry Cartesian robots that Stork will sell under its own name worldwide. The two companies have had a friendly relationship in recent years. Stork operated a Sepro S5-25 robot on one of its machines at NPE 2015, which took place in March in Orlando, Florida, and at PLASTPOL, which was held in Kielce, Poland, in May.

“We are very happy to complete this agreement with Stork, a company that is well-known for the reliability of their product in the demanding sector of packaging” says Jean-Michel Renaudeau, CEO of Sepro Group. “Collaboration with injection molding machine manufacturers is a key component in our growth strategy and an important element in the ‘free choice’ we offer to our customers.” In 2014, sales through IMM manufacturers accounted for 12% Sepro’s global turnover, Renaudeau noted.

Robert (Rob) G. Spekreijse, CEO of Stork IMM states: “The Stork organization is growing onto new markets and products. The expansion of our product portfolio with the Sepro solutions allows us to offer to our customers the systems they ask for. Especially regarding our crate-line for example; usually we are asked to supply a global package instead of a machine only.”

Stork IMM has its roots in Stork & Co. Engineering Works, which was established in Hengelo, the Netherlands, in 1868. From the beginning, Stork was known for construction of steam engines, diesel engines, pumps and other heavy-duty equipment. Stork IMM started making injection molding machines in 1968 as Stork Plastics Processing Machinery B.V. Their rigid design, along with developments in the area of drives and controls, made the Stork machines suited for making pails, flower pots, food packaging, crates and other markets.

Sepro Robotique was one of the first companies in the world to develop Cartesian beam robots for injection molding machines, introducing its first CNC controlled "manipulator” in 1981. Today, Sepro is one of the largest independent sellers of Cartesian robots. Customers around the world are supported by wholly-owned daughter companies in Germany, Spain, Benelux, the United Kingdom, the United States, Mexico, Brazil and China. Numerous direct sales and service offices as well as independent business partners, distributors and service hubs extend Sepro’s global network to over 40 other countries. To date, Sepro has equipped more than 25,000 injection-molding machines worldwide. The company’s global turnover for 2014 was € 79.2 million
